2.  Read the article that describes life in Detroit in order to get a glimpse into the lives of the urban poor. Where do Detroit and Buffalo rank in terms of poverty for cities in the United States?

3. There are many myths associated with poverty and many beliefs we hold about equality and educational opportunities in our country. Please listen/watch the NPR program On the Media podcast on poverty myths (watch video and listen to episode 2), watch John Oliver's segment on segration, and listen the NPR program This American Life segment on integration in Ferguson, Missouri. They are linked in that order below. There is more than 2 hours of content so I suggest you spread out the listening and watching. We will discuss these in class next week.
