Explore Math Lessons in Germany, Japan,
and the United States

To really understand how teaching looks in different cultures you need to see it. We have constructed video vignettes of six eighth-grade lessons, two each from Germany, Japan, and the United States. These example lessons are taught by teachers who have volunteered to be videotaped for this project.

These video examples are available either on CD-ROM or on VHS tape. To order the video, click here.

Even without the video you can explore descriptions of the lessons, including pictures.

Discuss the lessons with colleagues around the world by clicking the discuss button available on each page of the lesson descriptions. Make comments, and hear what others have to say. Let’s talk about classroom instruction!
