Admission requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or an applied mathematics field with a minimum of 36 hours in mathematics and a GPA of 2.5 in mathematics courses.

Must have passed the New York State Liberal Arts and Sciences Test and the New York State Content Specialty Test. For information about the tests, contact the Teacher Certification Office, Caudell Hall 112, (716) 878-6121

Must have two years of high school foreign language or one year of college level foreign language.

Admitted to Post Bachelor Mathematics Adolescence Certification(7-12) only Program

Candidacy to MS Mathematics (Secondary Education) 6620

Individuals who hold 7 -12 mathematics certification or who complete the Mathematics Adolescence Education 7-12 Certification Only program above (7055) can extend to 5 - 12 certification in mathematics with 6 additional hours of coursework in middle school education. Courses are selected by advisement. Such study shall include early adolescent development and the application of diverse instructional strategies in middle childhood education, including interdisciplinary teaching and teaming of students and faculty to maximize student learning.
