ACCESSING Servers in Panther

To connect to a server: Click on Go->Connect to Server ( Same as OS 10.2 or 10.1 shown to the right)

 

 

This window( shown below) will appear. You need to type in the name of Server. To add it to your favorites Click the + sign. Here I am connecting to math.

 

For Windows servers, you need to type smb:// in front of the path name. The third line below is what I type to access the shared faculty account for me giambrtm. This is:

smb://facstaff-new.bsclogon.buffalostate.edu/giambrtm$

The “smb”stands for samba protocol for window to talk to macs,

 

Type in your user name and password as usual. And click connect.

The Folder are organized as follows:

Public - Software that is public domain

Users - Faculty Accounts

Users2- Project Accounts

Users3- Graduate Student Accounts

Users4 - Undergraduate Accounts.

 

 

To Change your password on math.buffalostate.edu.

 

At the logon window first type in your username and password the click on the options button.

 

Choose Change Password.

 

Fill in the appropriate information. Click OK.
