MS in Mathematics Education(6620). This degree is designed for students who hold intial certification in Mathematics and are seeking a master degree for professional certification. This degree does not grant initial certification.
Admission Prerequisites:
1. Completion of at least 18 semester hours beyond calculus, including
one semester of linear algebra or abstract algebra, a semester of geometry,
and at least one semester of analysis, discrete mathematics, calculus based
probability, or calculus based statistics.
2. An average of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 in all undergraduate mathematics courses.
3. Acceptance as a graduate student by the chairperson of the faculty of the
Mathematics Department and the dean of graduate studies.
4. A limited deficiency in any of the above may be removed while pursuing
graduate study with a written statement from the chairperson of the
Mathematics Department. A copy of this statement will be filed in the
Mathematics Department Office and the Graduate Office. |

Certification Only(7055). The degree is designed for student who have a bachelors degree in Mathematics and seek intial certification 7-12.
Admission Requirements
1. A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or an applied mathematics field with a minimum of 36 hours in mathematics and a GPA of 2.5 in mathematics courses
2. A passing score on both the New York State Liberal Arts and Sciences Test and the New York State Content Specialty Test. For information about the tests, contact the Teacher Certification Office, Caudell Hall 112, (716) 878-6121
3. Two years of high school foreign language or one year of college level foreign language. |
