Certification Only(7055). This degree is designed for student who have a bachelors degree in Mathematics and seek intial certification 7-12.

Admission Requirements:


1. A bachelor's degree in mathematics or an applied mathematics field with a minimum of 36 hours in mathematics and a GPA of 2.5 in mathematics courses.

2. A passing score on both the New York State Liberal Arts and Sciences Test and the New York State Content Specialty Test. For information about the tests, contact the Teacher Certification Office, Caudell Hall 112, (716) 878-6121

3. Two years of high school foreign language or one year of college level foreign language.

Additional Information:


1. Requirements may be fulfilled entirely with graduate courses, entirely with undergraduate courses or with a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses. Students taking a combination of graduate and undergraduate courses will be billed appropriately for each type.
2. Graduate-level math education courses may be applied to a master's degree in math education if the student chooses to continue at Buffalo State College.

4. Students must pass the New York State Assessment of Teaching Skills Written exam to receive initial certification.

Requirements may be fulfilled entirely with graduate courses, entirely with undergraduate courses, or with a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses. Graduate-level courses are numbered 500 and higher; undergraduate-level courses are numbered 100-499.
