Admission Prerequisites:
1. Completion of at least 18 semester hours beyond calculus, including
one semester of linear algebra or abstract algebra, a semester of geometry,
and at least one semester of analysis, discrete mathematics, calculus based
probability, or calculus based statistics.
2. An average of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 in all undergraduate mathematics courses.
3. Acceptance as a graduate student by the chairperson of the faculty of the
Mathematics Department and the dean of graduate studies.
4. A limited deficiency in any of the above may be removed while pursuing
graduate study with a written statement from the chairperson of the
Mathematics Department. A copy of this statement will be filed in the
Mathematics Department Office and the Graduate Office.
Note: A Certificate of Qualification or Initial Certification is necessary if
this degree is to be used to seek Professional Certification.
Program Requirements:
The student must complete at least 30 semester hours of course work from the
following three categories. Unrestricted electives are not permitted.
A minimum of 15 hours must be completed at the (600 or 700) gradute level.

following list. Up to six semester hours of electives pertaining
to the professional development of a teacher may be chosen with prior
approval of the student's adviser or the department chairperson.
